Popular film and television actor Afzal Khan, better known as Rambo, has expressed his disappointment over not receiving a prestigious award like the Pride of Performance, despite acting in over 200 films in his three-decade-long career.
Rambo, along with his wife Sahiba, recently appeared on a private TV channel’s morning show, where he openly discussed various aspects of his showbiz career and other matters.
A video clip of Rambo’s complaint about not receiving any government awards has gone viral. In the clip, Rambo shared his views, stating that these days, awards are often given based on personal connections and he does not desire such awards.
He expressed that the true joy of receiving an award comes when it is given genuinely in recognition of one’s work.
Rambo mentioned that in the past, he has received other film awards, including the Nigar Award, which was the only award at the time, encompassing all films and actors.
He criticised the current trend where every TV channel has its own award shows, stating that this is not the right approach.
According to him, there should be a single award show where all TV dramas from different channels are gathered, and awards are given in each category.
While lamenting the fact that he has not received a government award yet, Rambo highlighted that he has been in the showbiz industry for 32 years but still has not received a Pride of Performance award.
He continued by saying, with folded hands, that the award-givers should not give him an award just because they heard his complaint; he does not want such an award.
Rambo also pointed out that his mother-in-law, the famous actress Nisho Begum, has also not received any state or government awards to date.
