Anum Uzair from Pakistan has reached the top of Broad Peak which is one of the twelve tallest mountains on Earth with its height reaching a staggering 8051 meters.
Anum has made history as only the second Pakistani woman to summit this formidable peak, following in the footsteps of Naila Kiani.
This ascent marks a significant milestone in Anum’s career, being her second successful summit of an “8000er,” a term used for mountains exceeding 8,000 meters in height.
Her feat not only demonstrates her extraordinary ability and resolve but also demonstrates the increasing presence of female Pakistani mountaineers in what had been a male preserve for many years.
On September 24, 2023, Anum Uzair and her husband Ahmed Uzair became the first Pakistani couple to summit Mount Manaslu, the world’s eighth-highest peak, which stands at 8,163 meters above sea level in Nepal.
Getting to the peak of Mount Broad Peak is done under several risks; hence, climbers must be aware of dangerous rock faces and glaciers that are difficult to walk through; moreover, unpredictable weather changes and physical and mental aspects should be taken into consideration.
Anum however took time to thank her crew and friends for their support after she summited Mount Broad Peak.
