Sindh Police Exposes 187 Fake Officers Amidst Corruption Investigation

In a shocking revelation, 187 fake officers have been uncovered within the Sindh Police, raising serious concerns over corruption and malpractice.

The issue came to light during a meeting of the Sindh Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC), chaired by Nisar Khuhro.

Among the attendees were IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon and other senior officials, who provided critical insights into the scandal.

This disturbing development not only highlights the depth of corruption but also exposes systemic failures within the recruitment process.

In 2018, the illegal recruitment of 187 fake officers took place in Kashmore, with these individuals continuing to draw salaries from the Sindh Police.

IG Ghulam Nabi Memon revealed that the officers responsible for these appointments have been imprisoned, and the case is currently being heard in the Anti-Corruption Court.

PAC Chairman Nisar Khuhro withheld any final decisions on the matter, emphasizing that the committee would await the court’s ruling.

Additionally, the committee discovered that the domiciles of 55 police officers were questionable, as their National Identity Cards (NICs) were linked to districts outside Sindh.

To address this, PAC ordered the formation of a special investigative committee under the leadership of IG Sindh.

During the meeting, discrepancies in police catering were also discussed, with IG Memon clarifying that in some instances, meals had to be provided urgently, bypassing the tender process due to its complexity and time constraints.

The Public Accounts Committee managed to settle over 200 audit paras concerning Sindh Police, while another 100 paras were given a one-month deadline for resolution.

This scandal not only undermines public trust in law enforcement but also stresses the need for systemic reforms within the police force to ensure transparency, accountability, and integrity.

The outcomes of both the Anti-Corruption Court’s decision and the committee’s investigation will be pivotal in determining the future course of action against those involved.
