Pakistani mountaineer Shehroze Kashif has etched his name in history by becoming the youngest climber from Pakistan to scale all 14 peaks towering over 8,000 meters at the age of 22 years.
His final ascent, reaching the summit of Shishapangma at 8,027 meters, was accomplished today, marking a monumental achievement in the world of mountaineering.
Dubbed the “Broad Boy” for his early feat of scaling Broad Peak, Kashif reached Shishapangma’s summit early this morning, securing his place among the mountaineering elite.
He is now the second Pakistani ever to achieve this remarkable milestone, following in the footsteps of Sarbaz Khan, who completed the same challenge earlier this year.
Kashif’s mountaineering journey began in 2019 when, at just 17 years old, he ascended Broad Peak, standing at 8,047 meters. This groundbreaking achievement brought him international recognition and set him on the path to conquering the world’s highest peaks.
In 2021, Kashif reached the summits of Mount Everest, Manaslu, and K2. His extraordinary skills were further demonstrated in 2022, with successful climbs of Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, Makalu, Nanga Parbat, Gasherbrum I, and Gasherbrum II. Last year, he continued his streak by conquering Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and Cho Oyu.
Though he attempted to summit Shishapangma in 2023, an accident prevented him from reaching the peak. Had he succeeded at that time, he would have held the world record as the youngest climber to complete all 14 eight-thousanders.
Reflecting on his latest success, Kashif said, “I always knew the risks were high, and the challenges immense, but staying focused on my goal kept me going. This achievement is not only about scaling mountains but also overcoming fear, doubt, and personal limits.”
The BARD Foundation played a crucial role in supporting Kashif on his journey. Abdul Razak Dawood, the foundation’s founder, expressed his pride, stating, “Today, words fall short to describe the pride I feel.
Shehroze has surpassed all expectations, proving the limitless potential of Pakistan’s youth. Watching his name celebrated on the global stage is truly a moment of national pride.”
