Promoting Freelancing to Uplift the Economy and Empower Youth, Says Dr. Mujaddid ur Rehman

The Vice Chancellor of Abbottabad University of Science and Technology (AUST), Professor Dr. Mujaddid ur Rehman, has emphasized the continuous exploitation of Muslims worldwide, including in Kashmir, Palestine, and Afghanistan.

Addressing a media gathering on Kashmir Exploitation Day at the university, he stressed that just like others, Muslims deserve the right to live freely. Without this acknowledgement, progress remains unattainable.

Dr. Mujaddid ur Rehman highlighted the urgent need to promote freelancing to rescue the country from its severe economic crisis.

He suggested that the Higher Education Commission (HEC) should incorporate freelancing into the computer science curriculum of universities, making it mandatory. This would enable students to earn between $10 to $20 daily during their degree programs.

Abbottabad University has already implemented freelancing courses for students at the matriculation and intermediate levels and is extending training to various colleges through its faculty.

According to Dr. Mujaddid ur Rehman, economic stability is crucial for Muslims to avoid exploitation. He said freelancing holds significant potential for providing employment opportunities and bolstering the national economy.

He urged the country’s policymakers to mandate freelancing education across all universities. With 230 universities and over 3,000 colleges educating 3.8 million students, integrating freelancing could revolutionize the financial landscape.

Especially for women unable to work outside their homes, freelancing offers a viable means to support their families from home. Abbottabad University has pioneered this initiative, enabling students to earn up to PKR 300,000 monthly through freelancing.

Dr. Mujaddid ur Rehman described freelancing as an essential skill for educated youth, with courses offered post-matriculation, intermediate, and starting from the third semester for BS students, continuing until the eighth semester.

The goal is to prepare students to earn $10 daily by accessing global projects through online bidding platforms available 24/7.

English students, in particular, can leverage their writing skills to generate substantial income, potentially earning up to PKR 300,000 per month.

Abbottabad University offers three-month freelancing courses and actively trains students in various colleges.

This initiative aims to guide youth towards self-reliance and stability, benefiting the nation directly.

By fostering economic empowerment, it can help alleviate the financial struggles faced by Muslims globally, reinforcing both the nation and the Muslim community.
