Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are grappling with a major PR nightmare, just as they are on the brink of significant business developments. The controversy stems from a recent story by The Hollywood Reporter, in which Meghan was labeled by her staff as “Duchess Difficult.”
This revelation has left the Sussexes dealing with the fallout, which could have long-term repercussions on their Hollywood relationships.
A well-known PR expert, Mark Borkowski, has shared insights into the challenges the couple is likely to face. According to him, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were once seen as a “Maverick royal couple,” welcomed into Hollywood with open arms and glamour. However, the tides seem to be shifting.
“One thing about Hollywood is that it’s the home of corporate entertainment, the world of the business of show, and it’s a small community. Once you’re out, you’re out, and that’s why PR is knee-deep in the heart of Beverly Hills.”
Borkowski went on to explain that many of his industry colleagues feel the couple’s brand is becoming difficult to manage. “In that part of the world, their job is to protect our clients from themselves,” he revealed, hinting at the challenges Harry and Meghan may now face.
Hollywood, according to Borkowski, is a “brutal world,” and there’s only so much space for those who constantly engage in negative narratives.
“If you don’t have the currency and are perceived as negative, and your inner sanctum reflects poor judgment, then you lose your power,” he added.
The couple’s ongoing discussions of their distance from the royal family and grievances about their treatment could also be seen as wearing thin with audiences and industry insiders alike.
As they move forward, Harry and Meghan will need to tread carefully, navigating both the pressures of their public image and the unforgiving landscape of Hollywood.
