The Allai Khwar Dam has a capacity to produce 121 megawatts of electricity. Nevertheless, Batagram, a district that contributes 6.34 billion rupees annually from its electricity generation, is experiencing power outages lasting up to 20 hours daily.

These frequent and lengthy power cuts are severely impacting local businesses, pushing many towards financial instability.

The lack of reliable electricity is making it difficult for business owners to maintain operations, leading to substantial economic losses and the threat of shutdowns.

Although a few residents have turned to solar panels to address the power crisis, the majority of Batagram’s population lacks the financial means for such solutions.

Consequently, most people rely on candles, lanterns, and low-cost Chinese lights for lighting, highlighting the gap between the district’s potential for electricity generation and the actual state of energy access.

Additionally, depriving Batagram of its own electricity contradicts constitutional rights.

The circumstances in Batagram highlight a clear violation of these rights, emphasizing the need for immediate government intervention and policy reform.

To address this crisis, it is of utmost mandatory for the government and relevant authorities to prioritize Batagram’s energy needs.

This involves ensuring equitable electricity distribution, investing in local power generation, and enhancing the overall energy infrastructure.

Such measures are mandatory to end the prolonged power outages and ensure that Batagram’s residents benefit from the electricity their district produces.
