In a strategic move to enhance Pakistan’s energy sector, Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) and China’s CCDC (Chuanqing Drilling Engineering Company Ltd.) have signed an important Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focused on developing shale and tight gas resources.
This collaboration aims to unlock significant untapped energy potential in Pakistan, which could play a vital role in addressing the country’s growing energy needs.
The MoU signing ceremony took place in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province, China, during the prestigious 8th Silk Road International Expo for Investment and Trade.
Federal Minister for Petroleum, Dr. Musadik Malik, witnessed this important moment, highlighting the significance of this partnership between two key players in the global energy industry.
Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, was also present at the event, underlining the diplomatic importance of this venture.
The MoU was signed by Mumtaz Ali Soomro, Executive Director of OGDCL, and Mr. Zhang Zhidong, Vice President of CCDC. Both organizations bring a wealth of experience and technical expertise in exploring and developing energy resources.
The cooperation between OGDCL and CCDC is seen as a major leap toward advancing Pakistan’s shale and tight gas exploration efforts.
