Monsoon Rains Claim 11 Lives in Balochistan: PDMA

The monsoon season has brought severe devastation to Balochistan, claiming 11 lives, including three children, as heavy rains lashed the province.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) reported on Saturday that the torrential downpours have triggered a series of tragic incidents across the region, prompting the provincial government to declare a state of emergency in four affected districts.

According to the PDMA report, the relentless rains have led to multiple rain-related accidents, resulting in the deaths of 11 individuals.

Among the casualties are three children who tragically lost their lives in these incidents. Additionally, eight people sustained injuries, including seven children, as various mishaps occurred during the downpour.

The heavy rainfall has caused significant damage to infrastructure and agriculture in the province.

The PDMA report highlighted that 15 houses were completely destroyed, while 34 others suffered partial damage.

The agricultural sector has also been severely impacted, with 62 acres of land inundated by the rains.

Moreover, 12 kilometers of roads were damaged, and five bridges were washed away by flash floods.

In addition to the human toll, the rains have also resulted in the loss of livestock.

Thunderbolts and other rain-related incidents have claimed the lives of 82 cattle, further exacerbating the challenges faced by the local communities.

In response to the widespread destruction, the provincial government has declared an emergency in the four most severely affected districts.

The PDMA continues to monitor the situation closely, providing updates and coordinating relief efforts to support those impacted by the disaster.

The monsoon rains in Balochistan have once again highlighted the vulnerability of the region to natural disasters.

With lives lost, infrastructure damaged, and agriculture disrupted, the need for swift and effective disaster management is more critical than ever.
