The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government has given the green light to a free meal scheme for primary schools in the public sector.
As per the scheme, children at primary schools in urban areas of all divisional headquarters in the province will be granted complimentary meals.
The decision was announced at a meeting held under the supervision of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Khan Gandpur in Peshawar.
The program will be launched as a trial in Abbottabad and SWAT, with a view to expand to other divisional headquarters in the province.
About 70,000 children are expected to benefit from the program and receive free nutritious meals every day.
The Prime Minister stressed that this program is an important welfare project pursued by the provincial government.
