The Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sardar Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, has announced a personal reward of PKR 5 million for Arshad Nadeem, the esteemed gold medalist.
This commendation comes as a recognition of Nadeem’s remarkable achievement in the field of sports, which has brought pride to Pakistan on a global stage.
During the opening ceremony of the 2024 Inter-Academy Games held at Hayatabad Sports Complex in Peshawar, Chief Minister Gandapur emphasized Nadeem’s contribution to the nation’s prestige.
He stated that while public funds are meant for the public, this personal reward signifies his deep admiration and respect for Nadeem’s accomplishments.
In addition to honoring Nadeem, the Chief Minister announced a total of PKR 30 million in prizes for winners and runners-up of the Inter-Academy Games.
This sum is supplementary to the awards given by the Department of Sports.
Gandapur expressed his commitment to investing in the youth of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, ensuring they have access to sports facilities and opportunities to shine on the international stage.
The Inter-Academy Games, running from August 14 to 18, 2024, will feature athletes from seven merged districts and six subdivisions, with 455 participants competing in various sports including cricket, badminton, and football.
The Chief Minister has also called on young athletes to serve as ambassadors for sports, encouraging them to stay away from substance abuse and contribute to a healthy society through competitive sports.
The event will see competitions across multiple venues including the Islamia College and other sports complexes in Peshawar.
The Provincial Ministers, including Pukhtun Yar Khan, Meena Khan Afridi, and Syed Qasim Ali Shah, as well as advisors and commissioners, were present at the ceremony, underscoring the government’s commitment to sports and youth development.
