Japan has made a major commitment to fund three pivotal climate change projects in Pakistan, marking a new chapter in the two nations’ collaboration.
The announcement came during the Asian Parliamentarians’ Forum on Population and Development in Islamabad, where the Islamabad Declaration was issued in partnership with the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).
Japan’s support highlights its dedication to combating climate change and its confidence in Pakistan’s growing role on the global stage.
In addition to this funding, Japan’s Minister of State pledged to assist Pakistan in securing further financial aid from the World Bank.
This move aims to bolster Pakistan’s efforts in mitigating climate-related disasters, a critical concern for the nation.
The Forum also extended an offer to Pakistan to join its Executive Council, a significant recognition of SIFC’s achievements in enhancing Pakistan’s international profile.
This opportunity underscores Pakistan’s rising influence in global climate change discussions.
