Islamabad Implements Major Changes to Vehicle Registration and Number Plate Regulations

In a significant policy shift, the Islamabad administration has announced the cancellation of vehicle registrations for those using fancy or prohibited number plates.

This move aims to standardize vehicle identification and enhance law enforcement capabilities within the federal capital.

According to a notification issued by the Islamabad administration, vehicle owners whose registrations are canceled due to the use of fancy number plates will face penalties and fees for re-registration.

Specifically, owners of vehicles up to 1,000 cc will be required to pay a fine of PKR 5,000 for re-registration. For vehicles between 1,000 cc and 2,000 cc, the fee will be PKR 10,000. Owners of vehicles above 2,000 cc will incur a fine of PKR 20,000.

Motorcycle owners will also be affected by these new regulations. They will need to pay a fee of PKR 1,000 for re-registration.

Additionally, if the violation persists despite the fine, the re-registration fee will increase fivefold for subsequent offenses.

The Islamabad administration’s notification emphasizes the commitment to enforcing these new regulations rigorously.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the city’s vehicle registration system and to ensure compliance with legal standards.

The administration urges all vehicle owners to comply with the new regulations to avoid penalties and ensure a smoother registration process.

These measures are expected to bring significant improvements to the management of vehicle registrations in Islamabad, contributing to better traffic regulation and public safety.
