The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has yet to make a final decision on whether the Indian cricket team will travel to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
This announcement comes from BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, who has hinted that a decision will be made closer to the event.
The ICC has awarded Pakistan the hosting rights for the 2025 Champions Trophy, marking a significant milestone for the country’s cricketing landscape.
The tournament will see eight teams compete, with their qualifications based on the outcomes of the 2023 ODI World Cup, which took place in India.
India is set to face off against Pakistan, Bangladesh, and New Zealand in Group A, while Group B will feature Australia, England, South Africa, and Afghanistan.
Despite the excitement, Shah indicated, “No stand as of now. We will cross the bridge when it comes,” as reported by the Times of India.
India’s last tour to Pakistan occurred during the 2008 Asia Cup, and the most recent bilateral series in India was in 2012-13.
Due to ongoing political tensions, the two nations have largely avoided bilateral cricket series.
The 2025 Champions Trophy will be the ninth edition of the tournament, following Pakistan’s historic win in 2017, where they defeated India in a memorable final.
