Cement Retail Prices See Slight Increase Across Pakistan

The retail price of cement in Pakistan witnessed a slight increase last week.

According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the average retail price of cement per bag in the northern cities of the country was recorded at PKR 1,500 for the week ending August 8, 2024.

This marks a 0.21% rise compared to the previous week, where the average price was PKR 1,497 per bag.

Similarly, in the southern cities, the average retail price of cement per bag was recorded at PKR 1,381 during the same week.

This represents a minor increase of 0.01% compared to the previous week’s price.

The PBS report detailed the average retail prices of cement in various cities across Pakistan.

In Islamabad, the price was PKR 1,537 per bag. In Rawalpindi, the price was PKR 1,513 per bag, while in Gujranwala, it was PKR 1,520.

Sialkot saw an average price of PKR 1,530, Lahore at PKR 1,550, Faisalabad at PKR 1,460, Sargodha at PKR 1,450, Multan at PKR 1,457, Bahawalpur at PKR 1,480, Peshawar at PKR 1,500, and Bannu also at PKR 1,500 per bag.

In the southern region, the retail price in Karachi averaged PKR 1,338 per bag.

In Hyderabad, it was PKR 1,325, Sukkur at PKR 1,450, Larkana at PKR 1,400, Quetta at PKR 1,430, and in Khuzdar, the price averaged PKR 1,343 per bag.

These minor increases in cement prices reflect the current market trends and economic factors impacting the construction industry across Pakistan.

The gradual rise in prices could influence construction costs, affecting both small-scale and large-scale projects nationwide.
