Kamala Harris Urges Swift Hostage and Ceasefire Deals in Israel-Gaza Crisis

Kamala Harris delivered a powerful message at the Democratic National Committee (DNC), underscoring her unwavering support for Israel’s right to self-defence amidst the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict.

“President Biden and I are tirelessly working to secure both a hostage deal and a ceasefire, as the time for action is now. And let me be clear, I will always stand up for Israel’s right to defend itself,” Harris stated emphatically.

This strong declaration reflects the administration’s commitment to Israel’s security while also acknowledging the harrowing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Harris stressed the necessity of ensuring Israel’s ability to protect its citizens, particularly in light of the horrifying events of October 7th, where a terrorist attack by Hamas resulted in unspeakable atrocities, including the massacre of young people at a music festival.

“The people of Israel must never again face the horror that a terrorist organization called Hamas caused,” she asserted, drawing attention to the violence and terror inflicted upon innocent civilians.

However, Harris also acknowledged the severe toll the conflict has taken on Gaza over the past 10 months.

The Vice President spoke about the devastation, the loss of countless innocent lives, and the relentless suffering endured by the Palestinian people.

“The situation in Gaza over the past 10 months has been truly devastating. So many innocent lives lost. Desperate, hungry people fleeing for safety over and over again,” she remarked, highlighting the urgent need for humanitarian relief.

In her address, Harris reiterated that both she and President Biden are dedicated to ending the war in a way that ensures Israel’s security, facilitates the release of hostages, and alleviates the suffering in Gaza.

She concluded by expressing a vision for the Palestinian people, one that includes dignity, security, freedom, and self-determination—a future where both Israelis and Palestinians can live in peace.
