In a celebration of national pride, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced a grand reward of Rs150 million for Arshad Nadeem, the star javelin thrower who brought home Pakistan’s first-ever individual Olympic gold medal from the Paris Olympics 2024.

A special dinner was held on Tuesday at the Prime Minister’s House to honor the athletic feat of Nadeem, who secured victory with a remarkable 92.97-meter javelin throw, marking a historic moment for the nation.

During the grand ceremony, attended by Nadeem, his family, and other dignitaries, PM Shehbaz expressed the nation’s immense pride in Nadeem’s achievement, which he called a “splendid gift” for Pakistan ahead of its Independence Day celebrations.

The Prime Minister also announced that a major road in Islamabad, connecting the F9 and F10 sectors, will be named after Nadeem to commemorate his victory.

Additionally, PM Shehbaz revealed plans to establish the “Arshad Nadeem High-Performance Academy” at Jinnah Stadium, Islamabad, to train future Olympians and nurture athletic talent nationwide.

The academy aims to prepare young athletes for the 2028 Olympics and beyond.

In recognition of his extraordinary accomplishment, Nadeem is also set to receive the Hilal-i-Imtiaz, Pakistan’s second-highest civilian award.

The Prime Minister further announced the creation of a sports endowment fund worth Rs1 million to support athletes, including provisions for retired players and improved training facilities.

Grateful for the overwhelming support, Arshad Nadeem dedicated his success to his family and the nation, vowing to continue training rigorously for future competitions and striving to set new world records.
