In a significant move towards modernizing public healthcare facilities, Islamabad’s Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) is set to introduce robotic surgery.
The Ministry of Health’s spokesperson announced that Health Coordinator Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed Bhirth confirmed the approval of a substantial PC-1 project worth 1465 million PKR, marking the first step towards this technological advancement in the surgical field.
Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed emphasized that integrating robotic surgery will enhance existing surgical services.
Surgeons will be equipped with cutting-edge technical facilities, and comprehensive training programs will be implemented to ensure they acquire advanced skills.
This initiative aims to provide patients with the latest treatment options, significantly improving the quality of healthcare services.
The spokesperson further highlighted the economic benefits of this project. By aligning with global standards, Pakistan’s healthcare sector can attract substantial foreign exchange revenue.
Additionally, there will be increased opportunities for employment in developed countries for professionals trained in robotic surgery.
