Arshad Nadeem Reaches Javelin Throw Final at Paris Olympics

Pakistan’s javelin throw star, Arshad Nadeem, has successfully qualified for the javelin throw final at the Paris Olympics.

Nadeem achieved an impressive 86.59 metres in Group B at the Stade de France on Tuesday, marking his best throw of the season.

Joining Nadeem in the final is India’s Neeraj Chopra, the reigning world champion, who delivered a remarkable 89.34 metres, also a season-best for him.

Grenada’s Anderson Peters, with a first-attempt throw of 86.59 metres, will also compete in the final, aligning with his South Asian peers.

Four athletes from Group A also secured their spots in the final, which will take place on Thursday night.

To qualify for the final, athletes needed to throw a minimum of 84 metres, setting the stage for an intense competition for the medals.

The javelin throw final is scheduled for Thursday, August 8, at 11:25 pm Pakistan Standard Time (PST).

Nadeem, Pakistan’s sole contender, previously won silver at the 2023 World Championships and at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

He made history by winning a gold medal, becoming the first Pakistani to do so since 1962.

Notably, Pakistan’s last Olympic medal was a bronze in field hockey at the 1992 Barcelona Games.
