In the Indian state of Kerala, a series of catastrophic landslides have wreaked widespread devastation following continuous rainfall and severe flooding.
According to global news agencies, a massive landslide from a hillside has struck a village, leading to the destruction of the area.
The landslide caused a significant mound of earth to collapse onto the village, burying numerous homes beneath it.
Rescue efforts have already recovered 109 bodies from the debris, and there is a pressing concern that around 100 more individuals may still be trapped under the rubble.
Additionally, the landslide has buried vehicles and livestock, while many cars and people have been swept away by the floodwaters of the Chaliyar River.
The flooding has also led to the collapse of a crucial bridge, complicating rescue operations as teams struggle to reach the affected areas.
Efforts are underway to construct a temporary bridge to facilitate access.
Military helicopters have been deployed to assist with the rescue operations, as hundreds of individuals remain stranded in the disaster-hit regions.
